There are two most convenient ways to visit Crete. Most likely your first stop in Greece wil be Athens. From there you may get to Crete either by airplane or by ferry boat.
:: Taking the ferry boat.
You will depart from Pireaus port to Rethymno's port at 7:30pm. There are usually two ferries on this line called Arkadi and Preveli (ANEK lines). The fares cost around 36 Euro with cabin and 21 Euro on board only. |

You will arrive on Rethymno port the next morning around 6 am. Now you may take a taxi or the bus to get to Roustika. The taxi will cost you around 15 Euro and the bus around 3 Euro.
:: Flying to Crete.
You will depart from Eleftherios Venizelos airport from Athens to Chania airport or Iraklio's airport. Chania is closer though and more convenient. There are a few airlines to choose from if you already haven't booked a transfer flight if coming directly to Crete from overseas. The flight fare varies also from airline to airline. From the airport you may take a taxi to Roustika, Rethymno. It would be helpful to have the above map in hand just in case the driver is not familiar with the destination. The taxi should cost not more than 40 Euro.
